Naresh Meena’s Midnight March to Jaipur Halted, 11-Point Agreement Reached with Administration

Tonk, Rajasthan: The standoff between prominent Rajasthan political figure Naresh Meena and the state government ended around 1 a.m. on Friday night. Meena, who was leading his supporters on a march to Jaipur with 11 key demands, was stopped by heavy police barricades near Amli Mor on National Highway 116. After hours of tense negotiations and marathon talks, the administration reached a written agreement with Meena, leading him to suspend the march.

Mediation and Key Points of Agreement

The negotiations were mediated by the Divisional Commissioner of Ajmer, with ADMs and the Additional SP of Tonk coordinating on-site. Meena was allowed direct phone communication with the Commissioner. The government agreed to provide pending compensation to the victims of Samravata violence, submit proposals for new school buildings, review and withdraw cases filed against 60 youths during the movement, and conduct high-level inquiries into police brutality allegations at Sop and Nagarfort police stations.

Major Demands by Naresh Meena

Meena had submitted 11 demands to the Chief Minister and 8 to the District Collector, which included:

  • Integrating 14 villages into Uniyara Tehsil.
  • Timely payment of Minimum Support Price (MSP) and crop insurance.
  • Proper rehabilitation of victims of Isarda and Galwa dam projects.
  • Stopping irregularities in toll collection and addressing road and water issues.

Highway Drama for Hours

Following a public meeting at Kotri Mor, thousands of Meena’s supporters marched toward Jaipur but were intercepted by police on the highway. A heavy police presence remained throughout the night. ADMs handed over a written report of administrative progress to Meena, following which he decided to suspend the protest.
