Naresh Meena, the independent candidate known for his controversial Tonk-Samrawata slap incident, is once again in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. A case has been registered against him following objectionable remarks made against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma during protests against the construction of the Dungri Dam in Sawai Madhopur.
Controversial Remarks Trigger Legal Action
The protests against the Dungri Dam witnessed large participation from local villagers, who also organized a major ‘Mahapanchayat’ to express their dissent. During this gathering, Naresh Meena made inflammatory and objectionable statements targeting PM Modi and CM Bhajanlal Sharma, including remarks on the new agricultural laws and the ongoing dam construction. A video of his speech quickly went viral on social media, drawing widespread criticism and prompting the BJP to take note.
Following the uproar, a formal complaint has been filed at the Sapotra police station in Karauli district. The complaint was lodged by Vikas Singh, co-convener of the BJP District Legal Cell, highlighting the offensive nature of Meena’s remarks.
A History of Controversies
Naresh Meena has long been a prominent yet controversial figure in Rajasthan politics. He gained notoriety during the Devli Uniyara Assembly bypolls when he slapped an SDM, and later during protests outside a medical college in Jhalawar following a school accident. He has repeatedly faced public criticism and social media trolling for his aggressive and provocative behavior, including incidents during the recent Anta Assembly bypolls.
With this new case, questions now arise about whether Meena will face legal consequences, including possible imprisonment, for his latest controversial remarks.
