Nagaur Witnesses ‘Biggest Mayra of the Year’: Two Brothers Gift Rs 1.61 Crore at Nephew’s Wedding in Jayal

Nagaur (Rajasthan): In a remarkable display of sibling affection and traditional values, two brothers from Rajasthan’s Nagaur district have drawn widespread attention after performing a grand Mayra (Bhaat) ceremony worth Rs 1.61 crore at their nephew’s wedding in Jayal town.

The event has been described as the biggest Mayra of the year in the region, reflecting the deep-rooted cultural tradition of Rajasthan where maternal uncles shower gifts and blessings on their sister’s children during weddings.

Rs 81 Lakh Cash, Gold and Silver Gifts

According to local sources, Jayal residents Lalit Kumar Vyas and Om Prakash Vyas performed the Mayra ceremony for their sister Gayatri Devi’s son Nilesh, who recently got married.

The grand offering included Rs 81 lakh in cash, along with 25 tolas of gold and several silver ornaments, leaving guests and community members astonished.

Ceremony Held at Maheshwari Bhawan

The Mayra ritual was performed with full traditional customs at the Maheshwari Bhawan in Jayal, in the presence of several prominent members of the community, relatives, and local dignitaries.

The ceremony was conducted in an atmosphere of celebration and joy, as cultural rituals were followed with great devotion and enthusiasm.

During the event, both brothers honoured their sister by draping a traditional chunri, completing the ritual in the presence of the family head Shyam Sundar Vyas, a moment that deeply reflected the strong bond between brother and sister.

Nagaur Once Again in Spotlight

Nagaur has frequently made headlines for such grand Mayra ceremonies. Last year, a Mayra worth Rs 21.11 crore performed by the Potliya family of Jhadeli village had become a major topic of discussion across Rajasthan.

Now, the Jayal ceremony has once again brought Nagaur into the limelight, with people calling it a living example of family unity, cultural pride, and respect for traditions.

The massive Mayra offering has not only become a subject of admiration in the Brahmin community but has also sparked conversations across the entire region, highlighting the significance of relationships and heritage in Rajasthani society.
