Jodhpur: The death of western Rajasthan’s renowned storyteller, Sadhvi Prem Baisa, has raised several questions following the appearance of a purported suicide note four hours after her passing. Her father has now provided clarification regarding the note, stating that the Instagram post was made by her staff in accordance with her last wish.
Father clarifies Instagram post
After Prem Baisa’s death at 5:30 PM, a post appeared on her Instagram account at 9:30 PM, which sparked speculation. Addressing the media, her father said, “It was Sadhvi Prem Baisa’s last wish that a message be conveyed to her followers. Hence, I had the post made through her staff.”
Death possibly due to injection reaction
Prem Baisa had reportedly been unwell for several days. According to her father, she received an injection from a compounder at the ashram to treat her fever. She became unconscious within five minutes and was subsequently taken to the hospital, where doctors declared her dead. Her father believes that her death was caused by a reaction to the injection, and police are currently investigating the matter.
Social media post linked to six-month-old controversy
Her last social media post, which many have interpreted as a suicide note, references an “Agnipariksha” and is being linked to an incident from six months ago. At that time, Sadhvi Prem Baisa had accused her former staff of blackmail, defamation, and demanding a ransom of 2 million rupees, leading to an FIR at Boranada Police Station and the arrest of one individual. She later publicly forgave the person but claimed that conspiracies against her by her former staff continued even afterward. Analysts believe her final message may be connected to this ongoing tension.
Final rites decided after protests
Following protests during her postmortem in Jodhpur, a consensus has been reached regarding her cremation. Sadhvi Prem Baisa’s last rites will be held on Friday at Pareu, Balotra.
The circumstances surrounding her death continue to spark public interest, with authorities probing whether it was an accidental reaction or something more sinister.
