Myanmar National Ibrahim Accused of Settling Over 200 Rohingyas Across 12 Indian States

Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh: A shocking development has come to light at Kanpur Central Station, where three Rohingyas were recently apprehended, including a Myanmar national named Mohammad Ibrahim. Ibrahim is reportedly the ringleader of a gang responsible for settling Rohingyas across India, with over 200 individuals placed in 12 states so far.

Network Spanning India
Intelligence agencies reveal that Ibrahim and his associates have established a network moving Rohingya immigrants from Myanmar via Bangladesh into India, spanning regions from Assam to Jammu and Kashmir. The trio, apprehended on December 24 aboard the Northeast Sampark Kranti Express, are being interrogated by the GRP, Intelligence Bureau, local intelligence teams, and the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS).

Background and Migration
Originally from the Nasafuru district of Mogando, Rakhine State in Myanmar, Ibrahim and the others had been residing in Bangladeshi refugee camps. Ibrahim entered India from Bangladesh in 2017, stayed briefly in Delhi, and in 2024 moved to Jammu, after which he orchestrated the settlement of Rohingyas across the country.

Investigation and Next Steps
Authorities are examining Ibrahim’s call records to map his network and identify other illegal immigrants being sheltered across states. GRP officer Omnarayan Singh confirmed that the three suspects will be taken on remand for further investigation once courts reopen on 1 January.
