In a deeply emotional moment following the tragic death of engineer Yuvraj Mehta, his father met Munendra, the delivery boy who had risked his own life while attempting to rescue Yuvraj during the fatal incident in Noida’s Sector-150.
Munendra visited the grieving family at their residence, where Yuvraj’s father expressed heartfelt gratitude for the young man’s courage and selfless effort. A video of the meeting has since surfaced, capturing the emotional exchange between the two.
“My son could not be saved, but I will never forget your kindness,” Yuvraj’s father said, acknowledging Munendra’s brave attempt. He described the delivery boy’s actions as nothing short of those of a “guardian angel.”
According to the family, although a rescue team was present at the scene, no effective action could be taken at the critical moment. In contrast, Munendra reportedly did not hesitate even for a second and jumped into the deep, muddy, and waterlogged pit, risking his life in a desperate attempt to save Yuvraj.
Eyewitnesses said the area was filled with thick sludge and dangerously deep water, making rescue operations extremely difficult. Despite the life-threatening conditions, Munendra continued his efforts until help arrived.
Meanwhile, the legal proceedings in the case continue. The two employees of Lotus Green Builder, Ravi Bansal and Sachin Karnwal, arrested in connection with the incident, were not granted relief by the court on Thursday. Their judicial custody has been extended until the next hearing, which is scheduled for Friday, when their bail plea will be considered.
The police have registered cases against MZ Wiztown Planners Pvt. Ltd. and Lotus Green Construction Pvt. Ltd., along with their respective builders. Builder Abhay Kumar and the two employees remain lodged in jail.
During the court proceedings, defence lawyers informed the court that a detailed 500-page report had been prepared and submitted to the authorities. However, the investigating officer stated that the entire report had not yet been examined, prompting the court to direct the police to appear fully prepared at the next hearing.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage and renewed debate over safety lapses, accountability of builders, and emergency preparedness in residential complexes across the region.
