Muzaffarnagar Tragedy: Couple Dies Three Days Before Wedding, Police Probe Love Story or Possible Honor Killing

Muzaffarnagar: A tragic incident in Bhallwa village, Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, has left the local community shaken. Just three days before her wedding, 27-year-old Pragati and her boyfriend Rohit (31) were found dead under mysterious circumstances. The incident has created tension in the village, and the police have launched a detailed investigation.

The Background
Pragati and Rohit, who lived in houses facing each other, had been in a relationship for nearly four years. Pragati worked at a private company in Gurugram, while Rohit was employed as a conductor with UP Roadways. Recently, Pragati’s marriage had been arranged in Sardhana, Meerut, with the wedding scheduled for February 8, and she had returned to her village two days earlier for the preparations.

Events Leading Up to the Tragedy
According to police, Rohit visited Pragati’s home on Thursday evening around 5 PM. The couple went into a room together. After some time, family members heard noises from the room and called out to them. Amid the commotion, screams were heard. Neighbors and relatives gathered at the scene, and when the door was forcibly opened, both were found in critical condition.

Tensions Between Families and Police
Hundreds of villagers gathered at the site following the incident. Senior police and administrative officers, including SSP Sanjay Verma, arrived to manage the situation. Rohit’s family alleged the possibility of honor killing by Pragati’s family, leading to a tense exchange between the families and police. The authorities were able to calm the situation, and the bodies were sent for post-mortem examination.

Police Investigation Underway
SSP Verma stated that the case is extremely sensitive, and all aspects are being thoroughly investigated. Preliminary leads include the couple’s relationship, wedding-related pressures, and interpersonal tensions. Statements from family members, call records, and other evidence are being scrutinized to establish the facts before any conclusions are drawn.
