Muzaffarnagar: In a major crackdown, Muzaffarnagar police have confiscated properties worth approximately ₹15.5 crore from notorious gangster Zahid and his sons, Khalid and Amir. The seized assets include 35 bighas of agricultural land, a pickup truck, and two motorcycles.
Gangster Activities and Legal Proceedings
Zahid and his sons have multiple cases registered against them under the Gangster Act. The trio was reportedly involved in organized criminal activities, including illegal cow slaughter, murder, and attempted murder in the Ratanpuri police station area. Police have been actively pursuing their arrest for some time.
Criminal Proceeds Used to Acquire Assets
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sanjay Kumar Verma stated that investigations revealed the gang had used illicit proceeds from cow slaughter and other crimes to purchase land across various villages. Following the filing of a chargesheet under the Gangster Act, a report under Section 14(1) for attachment of properties was submitted to the district administration.
Seized Properties
Upon approval from the District Magistrate of Muzaffarnagar, police executed the seizure. The attached properties include 35 bighas of land spread across villages such as Husainabad, Riyawali, and Dhanwara, a pickup truck, a Splendor motorcycle, and another motorcycle bearing the UP12 registration number.
This operation is part of a broader effort by the Muzaffarnagar police to dismantle the financial backbone of organized crime in the region and curb the influence of criminal gangs.
