Muzaffarnagar Man Swallows Three Needles; Doctors Shocked After X-Ray, Surgery Planned in Meerut

In a startling medical case from Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar district, a 35-year-old man was rushed to hospital after he allegedly swallowed three sewing needles, triggering severe abdominal and chest pain. The shocking discovery was made after doctors examined his X-ray, following which he was referred to Meerut for advanced treatment.

The patient, identified as Raju, complained of unbearable pain in his stomach and chest, prompting his family to take him to a local medical facility. Doctors there ordered an X-ray, which revealed the presence of multiple sharp metallic objects lodged inside his body. He was immediately referred to Meerut Medical College for specialized surgical care.

Patient Under Close Medical Observation

Raju has been admitted to the Surgery Department of Meerut Medical College, where he is undergoing treatment under the supervision of senior surgeon Dr. Gaurav Gupta. Doctors have expressed concern that the needles pose a serious risk of internal injury to vital organs, including the intestines.

“The patient is being kept under continuous observation, as sharp objects like needles can cause perforation or internal bleeding,” Dr. Gupta said.

Mental Health and Substance Abuse Suspected

According to doctors, preliminary evaluation suggests that the patient is mentally unstable and also addicted to intoxicating substances. Medical experts believe that his mental condition may have led him to take this extremely dangerous step.

“The act appears to be linked to his psychological condition. However, we are exercising utmost caution to avoid any complications,” Dr. Gupta added.

Surgery Likely to Be Challenging

Doctors informed that an ultrasound examination will be conducted on Saturday to determine the exact location of the needles and assess any damage caused to surrounding organs. Based on the findings, a surgical procedure will be planned to remove the needles.

Medical authorities have described the surgery as challenging, but emphasized that timely medical intervention has so far ensured that the patient’s life is not in immediate danger.
