Mundhwa Land Deal Case: Major Relief for Ajit Pawar’s Son Parth Pawar as Pune Police File Chargesheet

Pune:
In a significant development in the Mundhwa land deal case, former Maharashtra Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s son, Parth Pawar, has received major relief after the Pune Police Economic Offences Wing (EOW) stated that no evidence of his involvement has been found so far.

The EOW has filed an 1,886-page chargesheet in connection with the alleged irregularities in the 40-acre Mundhwa land transaction, Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar confirmed on Monday.

No Evidence Against Parth Pawar

Addressing queries regarding Parth Pawar, Commissioner Amitesh Kumar said that the investigation has not revealed his involvement in the case. Notably, Parth Pawar’s name does not figure in the FIR, though he is a partner in Amedia Enterprises LLP, the firm linked to the land deal.

According to the chargesheet, Sheetal Kishanchand Tejwani, the arrested power of attorney (PoA) holder, executed the land sale agreement with Amedia Enterprises LLP despite being aware that the land belonged to the state government.

Who Is Named in the Case

While Parth Pawar has not been named, the FIR mentions Digvijay Patil, another partner in Amedia Enterprises, and Surya Kant Yevale, a tehsildar who has been arrested in the case. Investigators allege that Yevale acted on a petition filed by Amedia Enterprises and issued orders directing the Botanical Survey of India (BSI) to vacate the land.

Officials clarified that the BSI holds a lease on the land valid until 2038, raising serious questions about the legality of the transaction.

Chargesheet Filed Against PoA Holder

Police said the chargesheet was filed only against Sheetal Tejwani on January 28, as the statutory 60-day deadline for filing charges was approaching. Commissioner Kumar stated that investigations against Digvijay Patil and Surya Kant Yevale are still ongoing, and a supplementary chargesheet may be filed later based on further findings.

Alleged Irregularities in the Deal

The land deal has sparked controversy due to allegations of large-scale irregularities. The transaction was allegedly executed for ₹300 crore by Tejwani, acting as PoA holder for 272 original landowners (Watandars), along with Digvijay Patil.

Opposition parties have claimed that the market value of the land in Pune’s upscale Mundhwa area was close to ₹1,800 crore, significantly higher than the deal value.

With the filing of the chargesheet, the investigation has entered a crucial phase, even as Parth Pawar walks free of allegations—for now.
