Muazzin Threatens Police Officer in Muzaffarnagar; FIR Registered

Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh – The police administration in Muzaffarnagar has registered an FIR after a muazzin from a local mosque threatened to behead a police officer. The incident, which quickly went viral on social media, followed a dispute over the volume of the Azaan (call to prayer).

Details of the Incident
The confrontation occurred at Madina Mosque, Madina Chowk, in the Civil Lines area. Two days ago, the muazzin, Mohammad Irfan, alleged that Incharge of Kachchi Sadak Police Outpost, Sub-Inspector Vinod Chaudhary, had misbehaved and physically assaulted him over the Azaan’s loudness. A video circulated online showed claims of the officer allegedly dragging Irfan out of the mosque and engaging in a scuffle.

Escalation and Threat
While police were investigating these allegations, another video surfaced showing Irfan threatening to behead the officer during a conversation with local Jamiyat ulema activists. The threat was explicit and captured clearly on camera, prompting immediate police action.

Police Response
The Civil Lines CO, Siddharth K. Mishra, confirmed that an FIR has been filed under relevant sections of the law. He stated that instructions issued by the officer were in line with Supreme Court directives, and that all prior allegations by the muazzin were found to be baseless. Mishra emphasized that threatening police personnel is a serious offense and will be dealt with strictly. Police are actively pursuing Irfan’s arrest.

Authorities also clarified that while the investigation into the earlier verbal and physical allegations against the officer continues, issuing threats is legally punishable and cannot be tolerated.
