Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh’s budget has reached a record ₹4,38,317 crore, marking a remarkable increase of over ₹1.60 lakh crore in the past five years. The state’s per capita income has also surged to ₹1,69,050, reflecting its strong economic health and the rising purchasing power of its citizens.

Budget Growth Over Five Years

According to the Economic Survey 2025-26 and the recently presented state budget, Madhya Pradesh’s economy has witnessed significant growth over the last five years. In 2022, the state’s budget stood at approximately ₹2.24 lakh crore. Today, it has climbed to ₹4,38,317 crore under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, with the government aiming to double the state’s economy and budget by 2029.

A closer look at the annual budget figures shows impressive growth:

  • 2022-23: ₹2,24,237 crore
  • 2023-24: ₹3,14,025 crore
  • 2024-25: ₹3,65,067 crore
  • 2025-26 (Revised Estimate): ₹4,21,032 crore
  • 2026-27 (Current Budget): ₹4,38,317 crore

This steady rise indicates a significant increase in the state’s revenue and spending capacity.

Direct Impact on Citizens’ Income

The growth in the budget has positively affected the average citizen’s income. While the per capita income in 2011-12 was only ₹38,497, it has now risen to an estimated ₹1,69,050 for 2025-26. This shows a substantial increase in the purchasing power of the people over the past five years.

A large portion of the expanded budget has been allocated to initiatives such as the Ladli Behna Scheme (₹23,800 crore), farmer welfare programs, and infrastructure development. The state’s GSDP is growing at an impressive 11.14%, positioning Madhya Pradesh among India’s fastest-growing economies.
