MP Police ‘Arrest’ Car with Handcuffs, Leaves Public Baffled

Jabalpur, MP: In an unusual and humorous turn of events, police in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, attached handcuffs to a car, sparking widespread amusement on social media. The incident took place at the Lardganj police station when officials, tasked with securing the vehicle, decided to handcuff it inside the station premises.

Typically, handcuffs are applied to suspects, but in this case, the car—impounded for a drunk-driving violation—was restrained using the device on its rear wheel and gate. Later, the handcuffs were removed and replaced with a chain for proper security.

According to information from the CSP Kotwali, the driver of the vehicle had been caught driving under the influence on Thursday night during a routine police check. The car was parked at the police station, and night-duty officers improvised by using handcuffs to secure it. The incident, however, quickly went viral on social media, with many users joking: “Now even cars are being arrested in Jabalpur!” and questioning, “What crime did the car commit?”

The police have sought an explanation from the officers on duty and issued notices to clarify the unusual action, which has caused some embarrassment for the local police department.
