MP Mob Lynching Triggered by Child Theft Rumors: Elderly Man Beaten in Mandsaur; Fake Video FIR in Bhopal

Bhopal / Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh: Rumors of child abduction have once again sparked violent incidents in Madhya Pradesh. In Mandsaur, a mentally unstable elderly man was brutally beaten by a mob after being falsely accused of being a child thief. Meanwhile, Bhopal police have registered an FIR against an unknown individual for sharing a six-year-old fake video on Instagram, which reignited panic over child abductions.

Viral Video Sparks Panic
The controversial video, originally from Jalaun district in Uttar Pradesh, resurfaced on social media and fueled misinformation about child kidnappers in Bhopal. Authorities have initiated an investigation against the person responsible for circulating the misleading content. Bhopal police appealed to the public to exercise caution and not trust or share unverified videos or posts. Citizens were urged to confirm the authenticity of any alarming content before reacting or spreading it further.

Mob Violence in Mandsaur
The viral misinformation has also led to violent attacks. In Mandsaur’s Narsinghpur area on Sunday evening, a large crowd gathered and violently attacked an elderly man they suspected of abducting children. Eyewitness videos show the man tied with a rope and beaten with kicks and punches by a mob numbering in the hundreds. The incident follows a similar attack on a woman in Indore a few days earlier.

Elderly Man Rescued and Cleared
Police intervened and rescued the man, who has no criminal record and was likely mentally unstable. During questioning, he was unable to respond coherently. No formal complaints of child abduction were registered, and the man was released after investigation. Authorities are still examining the videos of the attack.
