MP Minister to Facilitate Homecoming of Youth Forced into Conversion for Love Affair

Bhopal, 29 November 2025: A shocking case of forced religious conversion has come to light in Bhopal, involving a young man coerced into converting to Islam under the pretext of a romantic relationship. The youth, originally named Shubham Goswami, was compelled to adopt the name Aman Khan and was allegedly pressured to live apart from his family and consume non-vegetarian food as part of the forced conversion.

Victim Seeks Ministerial Intervention
Faced with harassment and mental trauma, the youth approached Minister Vishwas Sarang during a public grievance session, seeking assistance in returning to his original faith. The minister assured him that the government would facilitate his return to Hinduism in accordance with scriptures.

Details of the Ordeal
According to the youth, a Muslim family from his locality had subjected him to repeated harassment, including false legal cases, imprisonment, and physical abuse. After his release from jail, he was coerced into converting to Islam. He was also reportedly compelled to eat meat and attend religious gatherings, isolating him from his family. The youth stated that his conversion was carried out under threats, deception, and sustained pressure, lasting nearly three years.

Legal Action Initiated
Following the youth’s complaint, the minister ensured that the police registered an FIR against the accused family. After around two months of investigation, the case has been officially lodged, and steps are underway for the youth’s reintegration into his original faith. Minister Sarang emphasized that the government has strict laws against coercive religious conversions and will not tolerate such acts.

Homecoming to be Restored
The youth has expressed his desire to return home and reclaim his original identity as Shubham Goswami. The minister confirmed that the process of his homecoming and religious restoration will be completed soon, highlighting the administration’s commitment to protecting citizens from forced conversions.
