Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh: In a major crackdown against fraudulent claims under the Ayushman Bharat health scheme, authorities in Madhya Pradesh have suspended nine private hospitals after an AI-based investigation revealed extensive irregularities. The probe uncovered cases of hospitals claiming payments despite being physically closed, and ordinary patients being falsely listed as ICU admissions.
AI Reveals “Paper Doctors”
Under the ‘Daksh Ayushman’ model, the State Health Agency used Artificial Intelligence (AI) to identify suspicious activity. Following AI alerts, field teams physically verified 57 hospitals. Investigators found that many hospitals had doctors listed on paper only, with no actual specialists on-site. FIRs are being prepared against the implicated hospitals.
Fake ICU Admissions Exposed
A shocking revelation from the investigation was that ordinary patients were being falsely recorded as ICU admissions to claim higher reimbursements. Some hospitals, though closed, remained active on the government portal and continued filing fake claims, defrauding public funds.
Suspended Hospitals
The following nine hospitals in Bhopal have been suspended immediately due to serious irregularities and systematic fraud:
- Abhishree Hospital
- Avesena Multispeciality
- Ayush Hospital
- Community Value Specialty
- Drishti Eye Care

Key Findings of the Investigation
- 17 hospitals lacked valid licenses and registration documents.
- 8 hospitals did not have sufficient beds or essential medical equipment.
- Fire safety NOCs were expired at several facilities.
- Many centers were found in unhygienic conditions during inspections.
The health department has vowed strict action against all hospitals involved in cheating under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, signaling a zero-tolerance approach to corruption in healthcare.
