MP Cabinet Approves Major Development Projects: Sagar-Damoh Four-Lane, Cheetah Relocation, Medical & Industrial Boosts

Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh: The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by CM Mohan Yadav in Khajuraho, approved several key decisions aimed at industrial growth, infrastructure development, wildlife conservation, and healthcare expansion in the state.

Sagar-Damoh Four-Lane Highway Sanctioned

A 76 km four-lane highway between Sagar and Damoh has been approved, with a total estimated cost of ₹2,059 crore. The ambitious project includes 13 underpasses, three major bridges, nine medium bridges, one ROB, 13 major junctions, and 42 medium junctions, significantly improving connectivity in the region.

Cheetah Relocation to Nauraadehi

The Cabinet also approved a third site in Madhya Pradesh for cheetah relocation. Alongside the Veerangana Durgawati Tiger Reserve in Sagar, Nauraadehi Wildlife Sanctuary will now house cheetahs. Madhya Pradesh currently has 31 cheetahs, including 28 in Shivpuri and two in Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary, Mandsaur.

Expansion of Medical Colleges & Hospitals

  • Medical Colleges in Damoh, Chhatarpur, and Budhni will see 990 new regular posts and 615 outsourced posts approved, enhancing healthcare staffing and capacity.
  • Healthcare Infrastructure Upgrades: 12 health facilities across 11 districts will be upgraded, adding 348 new posts. Notable expansions include:
  • Bhadwamata Sub-Health Center, Neemuch → 30-bed Community Health Center
  • Maksi Primary Health Center, Shajapur → 50-bed Civil Hospital
  • Jeevajiganj (Ujjain) & Omkareshwar (Khandwa) → 50-bed Civil Hospitals
  • Ajaygarh (Panna), Maheshwar (Khargone), Devsar (Singrauli), Hanumana (Rewa) → 50-bed Civil Hospitals
  • Bheempur (Betul), Chitrangi (Singrauli), Kotma (Anuppur) → 100-bed Civil Hospitals
  • Bina Civil Hospital (Sagar) → 100-bed upgrade

Industrial Incentives for Bundelkhand

A special industrial incentive package has been approved for the Maswasi Grant industrial area in Sagar. The initiative is expected to attract ₹24,240 crore in investments and provide employment for over 29,000 people, stimulating economic growth in the Bundelkhand region.

Skill Development & Overseas Employment

Under the OBC & Minority Welfare Department, a project was approved to send 600 youth to Japan and Germany over two years using the Social Impact Bond (SIB) financing mechanism, creating international employment opportunities.

Fire Services Modernization

A ₹397.54 crore plan has been approved to expand and modernize fire services in the state, following the 15th Finance Commission’s recommendations. Funding includes 75% central share (₹297.15 crore) and 25% state share (₹100.39 crore).

Irrigation Project Approval

A medium irrigation project in Tendukheda, Damoh, with a cost exceeding ₹165 crore, will irrigate 3,600 hectares across 17 villages, boosting agricultural productivity in the region.

The Mohan Cabinet’s decisions demonstrate a strong focus on infrastructure, wildlife conservation, industrial growth, healthcare, and skill development, signaling a comprehensive approach to Bundelkhand’s overall development.
