MP Cabinet Approves 50% Vehicle Tax Concession at Gwalior-Ujjain Fairs, Fourth Pay Scale for Teachers

Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet has approved several major decisions during its recent meeting, including a 50% tax concession on vehicles purchased at the Gwalior Fair and Ujjain Vikramotsav, as well as the implementation of fourth pay scale (Chaturth Samayman) for teachers.

Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla briefed the media after the meeting, stating that the fourth pay scale will benefit over 125,000 teachers, including assistant teachers, regular teachers, and new recruits. The government estimates that this decision will entail an additional expenditure of ₹322 crore.

Regarding the fairs, the Cabinet announced that buyers purchasing vehicles at the Gwalior Mela and Ujjain Vikramotsav will receive a 50% tax rebate. This move is expected to boost vehicle sales at these popular events, particularly as the Gwalior Mela has already begun.

Other key Cabinet approvals include:

  • Space Tech Policy 2026
  • Establishment of 200 fully-equipped Sandeepani schools in the second phase, with an investment of ₹3,660 crore
  • Irrigation projects in Raisen and Rajgarh, benefiting approximately 20,000 farmers

Notably, the Cabinet meeting was conducted in paperless mode, with all ministers, including the Chief Minister, using tablets instead of physical files. A group photograph was also taken at the start of the meeting to mark the occasion.

These decisions reflect the state government’s focus on education, infrastructure, agriculture, and technological innovation, while also promoting economic activity through tax incentives.
