Jalaun, UP: In a horrifying incident that has shaken the local community, a 15-day-old newborn was found dead near a village pond in Jalaun district. Preliminary investigations suggest that the infant was strangled by his mother following ongoing disputes with her husband.
Details of the Incident
The incident took place in Kasimpur village under the Gohan police station jurisdiction. Aarti Devi, the mother, reportedly had been living separately at her parental home due to continuous marital discord with her husband Kamal Pratap Rathore. The couple, married two years ago, already has a one-and-a-half-year-old son named Madhusudan.
Aarti Devi gave birth to the second child on 27 October 2025. While the initial days brought joy to the family, tensions resurfaced due to ongoing disagreements with her husband. On Tuesday, while having a meal, Aarti allegedly strangled the 15-day-old infant. The baby’s disappearance caused panic in the household and the surrounding village.

Investigation Underway
The Gohan police, led by Station Officer Satish Kumar, are questioning all family members. Early investigation points to a family feud as the motive. Aarti Devi, who also has an older child, reportedly gave contradictory statements during questioning. Legal proceedings have been initiated against her for murder under relevant sections of the IPC.
The tragic case highlights the severe consequences of unresolved domestic disputes and has left the local community in shock and mourning.
