Sitamarhi, Bihar: A mother and daughter in Sitamarhi have landed behind bars after verbally abusing traffic police officers during a government anti-encroachment drive. The incident, which occurred near Gudri Bazaar Chowk, has drawn widespread attention on social media.
Verbal Assault on Police Officers
According to officials, the municipal authorities had issued orders to remove illegal encroachments on government land located south of the road. When the anti-encroachment team arrived to carry out the order, the mother and daughter unleashed a torrent of highly offensive abuses at the officers—so rapid and intense that police likened it to a “bullet train.” The language was so vulgar that it cannot be repeated in a civilized publication.
Police Take Strict Action
Despite initially holding back, police later registered a formal First Information Report (FIR) against Ruby Gupta, a widow residing on Gudri Road, and her daughter, following a complaint by female constable Pushpa Rani. Both were taken into judicial custody and sent to jail. The video of the incident, showing the mother and daughter verbally assaulting the police team, has gone viral on social media, triggering strong reactions from the public.
Obstruction of Government Work
According to the FIR, the incident occurred on 21 November 2025 during a campaign to clear encroachments from the main city roads. The anti-encroachment team had moved from Kiran Chowk to Gandhi Chowk and then toward Gudri Bazaar. Upon encountering the illegal encroachment, the mother and daughter not only refused to cooperate but also verbally attacked the team with increasingly abusive language, thereby obstructing government work.
Official Statement
Municipal police officer Vinay Pratap Singh confirmed the arrests and emphasized that such behavior would not be tolerated, and strict action would be taken against anyone obstructing public service.
This incident highlights the challenges faced by authorities while enforcing law and order and maintaining civic discipline in urban areas.
