Mother and Son from Mathura Attempt Suicide Over Land Dispute in Lucknow; Under Treatment

Lucknow: A shocking incident unfolded in Lucknow on Wednesday morning when a mother and her son from Mathura allegedly consumed poison due to a dispute over a land plot. The incident occurred on Vikramaditya Marg when bystanders noticed their sudden deterioration and immediately alerted the police. Both were rushed to the hospital for urgent medical care.

Victims Identified

According to DCP Central, Vikrant Veer, the victims have been identified as Munesh Singh (55), wife of late Rajveer Singh, and her son Baljeet Singh (38), son of late Rajveer Singh, residents of F-49, Radharani Township, Barsana, Mathura. The mother-son duo had come to Lucknow for some personal work when the incident took place around 11:30 AM.

Circumstances Leading to the Incident

Police investigations revealed that Munesh Singh and Baljeet Singh were reportedly distressed over the alleged illegal occupation of their land plot in Mathura. Disturbed by the situation, they took the extreme step of ingesting poison. Police recovered some documents and personal belongings from the spot, which are being examined for further clues. Authorities have indicated that the land dispute appears to be the primary cause of this desperate act, though the investigation is ongoing.

Police Response and Investigation

On receiving the alert, the Chowki In-charge, Bandariya Bagh, and Sub-Inspector Aditya Singh rushed to the site and ensured that both were admitted to Civil Hospital without delay. Lucknow police have also coordinated with Mathura police to verify the land dispute and identify any parties involved. The investigation is being conducted jointly across both districts.

Current Condition

Both Munesh Singh and Baljeet Singh remain under strict medical supervision, and their condition is reportedly stable. Police have stated that detailed statements will be recorded once their health permits, after which further legal action will be determined.
