Gwalior: A tragic road accident claimed the lives of a mother and her son on Friday when a speeding dumper rammed into their motorcycle on the Gwalior-Morena highway. The accident was so horrifying that witnesses could only exclaim, “He Ram,” as they watched the scene unfold. The police have taken the dumper driver into custody.
The incident occurred near Nirawali Chowk in the Purani Chhawni police station area. According to reports, 25-year-old Dharmendra Pal, son of Atar Singh Pal, from Krishna Nagar Pahadi, Motijheel, was riding with his mother, Chameli Devi, towards Gwalior from Morena. A dumper truck, driven recklessly at high speed, collided head-on with their motorcycle, instantly killing both.
The impact of the collision created panic at the site, with locals rushing to help and raising alarms. The police arrived promptly, managed the crowd, and sent the bodies for post-mortem. The dumper driver, who initially tried to flee, was apprehended by bystanders and handed over to the authorities.
CSP Gwalior, Robin Jain, confirmed that the driver is in custody and being questioned. Preliminary investigations indicate that overspeeding and negligent driving were the primary causes of the accident. The families of the deceased have been informed, and further legal proceedings will follow post the post-mortem report.
Local residents expressed deep concern, noting that this stretch of the highway has become a hotspot for fatal accidents. They urged authorities to increase surveillance, enforce stricter speed control, and implement better traffic management to prevent such tragedies in the future.
