Mother Abandons Newborn at Eidgah Premises in Shivpuri; Dog Carries Body to Madrasa, Infant Found Dead

Shivpuri:
A deeply disturbing incident has come to light from Shivpuri district of Madhya Pradesh, where a woman allegedly abandoned her newborn baby at the Eidgah premises. The tragedy came to public notice after a stray dog was seen carrying the infant’s body in its mouth and bringing it to a nearby madrasa.

By the time the child was discovered, the newborn had already died.

The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of Dehat police station and has sent shockwaves across the area.

Woman Caught on CCTV

According to police, the woman arrived at the Eidgah premises carrying the newborn wrapped in cotton and later left the baby there before fleeing the spot. Her entire movement was captured on CCTV cameras installed in the area.

Police teams are now scanning the footage to identify and trace the woman.

Infant Wrapped in Cotton

Eyewitnesses stated that a stray dog picked up the infant’s body and carried it into the madrasa located within the Eidgah complex. When people present at the madrasa noticed the horrifying sight, they attempted to chase the dog away. The dog eventually dropped the body and ran off.

Upon examination, the body was found to be that of a male newborn, wrapped in cotton. Preliminary observations suggest that the baby may have been alive when abandoned and later succumbed to cold, hunger, or dehydration.

Birth Possibly Took Place at Home

Police officials noted that no cord clamp was found on the infant’s umbilical cord, raising suspicion that the delivery may have taken place at home. However, as a hospital is located close to the Eidgah premises, the possibility of hospital delivery cannot be ruled out at this stage.

The exact place and circumstances of childbirth remain unclear.

Investigation Underway

Following the incident, police recovered the body and conducted a postmortem examination. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.

Officials stated that a detailed probe, including analysis of CCTV footage and questioning of nearby residents, may help identify not only the woman who abandoned the newborn but also the sequence of events leading up to the incident.

The heartbreaking episode has sparked widespread anguish and renewed concerns over social stigma, lack of awareness, and the urgent need for support systems for vulnerable women.
