Most-Wanted Dacoit Sama Killed in Shamli Forest Encounter; Terror Across Three States Ends

The quiet of Shamli’s Bhesani forest was shattered early Tuesday morning as gunfire echoed through the area. In a major breakthrough for Uttar Pradesh Police, ₹50,000-rewarded most-wanted dacoit Samayadeen alias Sama was killed in an encounter. Sama was a dreaded criminal whose activities had spread fear across Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, and Telangana, where he faced over 23 criminal cases, including robbery, loot, illegal arms possession, and murder.

Plotting a Major Crime in the Forest

According to police, Sama and his five associates were camping near a brick kiln in Bhesani forest and allegedly plotting a major crime. Acting on intelligence inputs, multiple police teams cordoned off the area and ordered the gang to surrender. Instead, the criminals opened fire and attempted to escape, triggering a fierce gun battle.

One Policeman Injured, TI Narrowly Escapes Bullet

During the exchange of fire, Sama was critically injured and was rushed to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Babri Police Station in-charge Rahil Sisodia narrowly escaped after a bullet struck his jacket. Another policeman sustained serious injuries and was shifted to the district hospital for treatment.

Close Associate of ₹1 Lakh Rewarded Nafees

Police said Sama was the close associate of Nafees, a dreaded criminal carrying a ₹1 lakh reward who was killed in an encounter in Kandhla last year. Following Nafees’s death, Sama fled to Punjab and reportedly continued operating across multiple states. A native of Kandhla, Sama had been living in Tumkur, Karnataka, using it as his base.

Five Gang Members Escape; Massive Combing Launched

While Sama was neutralized, his five associates managed to escape into the forest. Police recovered two pistols, one country-made weapon, and a large number of cartridges from the spot. A massive search and combing operation is underway in the forested region to nab the remaining gang members.

“Major Achievement for Shamli Police”: SP

Shamli SP N.P. Singh termed the encounter a significant success, stating that Sama was a highly cunning and active member of an inter-state criminal network. Search operations have been intensified to track down his absconding accomplices.
