A chilling case of honour killing has surfaced in Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad district, where a young couple in an inter-family love relationship was brutally murdered with spades and their bodies secretly buried to destroy evidence. The incident has sent shockwaves across the region and triggered tension in the village.
The crime took place in Umri Sabzipur village under Pakbada police station limits. According to police, the couple had been in a relationship for nearly two years, which was strongly opposed by the girl’s family.
Brutal Murder Following Discovery
On Sunday night, the युवक, Armaan, went to meet his girlfriend Kajal at her residence. During the meeting, the girl’s mother and brothers allegedly caught the couple together. Enraged over the relationship, the family members first assaulted the couple mercilessly and later killed them using spades.
To conceal the crime, the accused transported the bodies nearly two kilometres away to a secluded area near the Gagan River, close to the Baba Neeb Karori temple, where they dug a deep pit and buried the bodies.
Missing Person Case Leads to Shocking Revelation
Armaan was reported missing by his family on Monday, prompting police to launch a search operation. Initially, police suspected that the couple had eloped. However, suspicion arose when the girl’s family refused to file a missing complaint for Kajal.
Police then detained one of the girl’s brothers for questioning. Under sustained interrogation, he eventually confessed to the crime, leading police to the burial site. On Wednesday, the bodies were recovered in a mutilated condition after excavation using a JCB machine.
FIR Registered, Accused in Custody
Following the recovery, police registered a murder case against three brothers of the girl — Rinku, Rajaram and Satish. Two of the accused have been taken into custody and are being interrogated, while efforts are underway to apprehend the third.
Heavy Police Deployment Amid Tension
As the incident involves members of two different communities, tension has gripped the village. To maintain law and order, PAC and additional police forces have been deployed in the area. Senior officers, including SP Crime Subhash Chandra Gangwar and CO Highway Rajesh Kumar, are camping at the spot.
Police Statement
Moradabad SSP Satpal Antil confirmed the incident, stating, “A case of murder involving a young couple has been registered in Pakbada police station area. The girl’s family allegedly killed both after finding them together. FIR has been lodged against her three brothers under relevant sections of IPC. Two accused are in custody, and further investigation is underway.”
The incident has once again raised serious concerns over honour-based violence, highlighting the grim consequences of social intolerance and the urgent need for stronger community awareness and legal deterrence.
