“Misuse of SC/ST Act Will Not Be Tolerated,” Says Bihar Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha, Orders Probe After Emotional Plea

Patna: Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha has taken a strong stand against the misuse of the SC/ST Act, ordering an immediate investigation into a case where a young man alleged he and his family were falsely implicated. The incident, related to a land dispute, unfolded in dramatic fashion as the victim broke down in tears while narrating his ordeal.

Emotional Appeal to the Deputy CM

The young man, in tears, explained:
“Sir, I just brought my mother after her open-heart surgery. My father passed away due to a heart attack in this condition. I am the only son. We were accused twice under the SC/ST Act. When we go, our wife and mother are beaten. The government officials know everything, sir. Even the official report confirms this.”

Hearing this, Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha expressed visible anger. He reprimanded the district magistrate (DM) and superintendent of police (SP) on the spot, saying:
“Who are these people supporting the wrong ones? SP, ensure a thorough investigation. CO, if professional misusers threaten innocents, where will the law go? We will stand with genuine victims. The SC/ST Act was meant for protection, not for exploitation.”

Experts Demand Swift Government Action

Dr. Sanjay Kumar, a prominent educationist from Bihar, emphasized the need for immediate action in such cases:
“No one, regardless of caste—General, OBC, SC, or ST—has the right to misuse the law. Legal action must be taken against those who exploit it, ensuring that innocent citizens are not harassed or jailed on false charges. The government should intervene promptly to maintain social harmony.”

A Stark Reminder from Uttar Pradesh

This is not an isolated issue. In Lalitpur, Uttar Pradesh, Vishnu Tiwari spent 20 years in prison due to false SC/ST Act allegations, during which his family suffered immensely. By the time he was exonerated, two decades of his life had been lost, along with the lives of his parents, highlighting the devastating consequences of misuse.

Deputy CM Sinha’s intervention underscores the Bihar government’s commitment to protecting genuine citizens while cracking down on the exploitation of protective legislation.
