Mirzapur Double Murder Shocks Town: Stepson Kills Stepmother and Half-Brother Over Property Dispute

Mirzapur, UP: A gruesome double murder in Mirzapur has sent shockwaves through the local community. In a property dispute, a young man allegedly killed his stepmother and half-brother, police said. The accused has been apprehended.

The victims, identified as building materials businessman Ayush Gupta (32) and his mother Usha Gupta (62), were reportedly killed by Usha’s stepson, Rahul Gupta. According to police, Rahul slit their throats with a sharp-edged weapon. After the murders, he attempted to dispose of the bodies. Usha Gupta’s body was loaded onto a tractor-trailer and dumped into a canal about two kilometers from their home. While transporting Ayush’s body, it fell from the vehicle at a crossroads, exposing the crime. Locals who witnessed the incident alerted authorities, and Rahul fled the scene.

Police swiftly arrived at the site, and after investigation, Rahul Gupta was arrested along with the murder weapon and the tractor-trailer used in the crime. During questioning, he admitted to committing the killings. Authorities are still searching the canal for Usha Gupta’s body.

According to Rahul Gupta, the murders were motivated by a long-standing property dispute. He claimed that ten years ago, his father, Premchand Gupta, had excluded him from the family estate, holding Usha responsible for the action. Following his father’s death, Rahul reportedly attempted legal measures to reclaim his share. The dispute escalated when he alleged that his stepbrother had sold some property in Chandauli without his consent.

Rahul, who married in 2008 and separated in 2012, carried out the murders at their residence in Patel village, Madihan police station area. He first killed his half-brother Ayush, and while transporting his body, it fell from the tractor-trailer, drawing the attention of passersby. He then dumped his stepmother Usha’s body into the canal before attempting to return home.

SP Naxal Manish Kumar Mishra confirmed the incident, stating that swift police action led to the arrest of Rahul Gupta, who admitted to the crime. The police are conducting further investigations and continuing their efforts to recover the remaining body.

The horrific incident has left locals shaken and raised questions about family disputes escalating into violent crimes.
