Lucknow, January 22:
A serious case involving the alleged kidnapping, religious conversion, and forced marriage of a minor girl has come to light in Uttar Pradesh’s capital, Lucknow, triggering tension in the area. Police have registered an FIR against two Muslim youths following a complaint filed by the victim’s father and have launched an intensive search operation to recover the girl.
The victim, a 17-year-old Class 10 student, went missing under suspicious circumstances from the Chinhat area on January 18. Her family alleges that she was abducted, coerced into religious conversion, and subsequently married (nikah) without consent.
FIR Registered on Father’s Complaint
According to police officials, the girl’s father submitted a written complaint at Chinhat police station, naming two accused—Asif alias Naimullah and Shamshad Alam, who reportedly work at a hospital in the area. Based on the complaint, police have registered a case and initiated a detailed investigation.
The complainant has alleged that the accused kidnapped his daughter and forcibly converted her religion before arranging her marriage. He further expressed apprehension that the girl may have been taken out of the state.
Police Teams Sent to Bihar
Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused are originally residents of Champaran district in Bihar. Acting on this information, Lucknow Police have constituted two special teams and are preparing to send them to Bihar to trace the accused and recover the minor.
Chinhat Police Station Inspector Dinesh Chandra Mishra confirmed, “A case has been registered on the basis of the father’s complaint. The girl is a minor and a student of Class 10. She left home on January 18 and did not return. Efforts are being intensified to locate her and arrest the accused.”
Neighbours Provide Key Inputs
During local inquiries, police recorded statements from neighbours. One teenage girl from the neighbourhood told police that her mother works at the same hospital as the accused. She claimed that Asif frequently visited their locality and allegedly tried to befriend the missing girl, offering her chocolates and money on earlier occasions.
Police said both accused were living in a rented accommodation in Buddh Vihar Colony, Chinhat.
Allegation of Threats via Social Media
The girl’s father has also alleged that Asif threatened his daughter through Instagram messages prior to the incident. He claimed that his daughter was being harassed and intimidated, and that the abduction took place shortly after these threats.
Investigation Ongoing
Police have stated that all allegations are being thoroughly examined, including claims of coercion, religious conversion, and marriage. Authorities stressed that the recovery of the minor girl remains the top priority.
The case has once again drawn attention to issues of child safety, online harassment, and alleged forced conversions, with police assuring strict action once all facts are established.
