Minister Vijayvargiya Directs Immediate Action Against Illegal Water Connections Under AMRUT Scheme

Indore, November 3, 2025

A comprehensive review meeting chaired by Urban Development and Housing Minister Shri Kailash Vijayvargiya was held at the AICTSL Conference Hall, focusing on key urban infrastructure projects including the AMRUT Mission (1.0 & 2.0), Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (1.0 & 2.0), Swachh Bharat Mission, PM SVANidhi Scheme, Smart City Projects, and other civic initiatives.

During the meeting, Minister Vijayvargiya issued strict directives to disconnect all illegal tap connections attached to under-construction water tanks and distribution lines under the AMRUT scheme. He emphasized that road restoration works must be technically sound and of high quality, stating — “Road cutting should be done only through cutters, not by damaging roads with breakers. Accountability of concerned engineers will be fixed for negligence.”

The review also covered water supply systems in 29 newly included villages, removal of encroachments along the RE-2 Road, ensuring proper width of master plan roads, and addressing the growing issue of unauthorized colonies. Minister Vijayvargiya warned that officers will be held responsible for illegal constructions under their jurisdiction and directed a comprehensive crackdown campaign to prevent further encroachments.

Focus on Fiscal Efficiency and Sustainable Development

Minister Vijayvargiya highlighted that “Indore is the first self-reliant city of Madhya Pradesh, progressing rapidly through innovation.”
He called for concrete strategies to increase revenue and reduce unnecessary expenditure, while ensuring technical excellence in urban infrastructure and restoration works. Praising Mayor Bhargav’s vision, he said — “The work on Narmada Phase-IV project, with a vision for 2040, reflects far-sighted planning for Indore’s future.”

Approval for Metro Expansion

In a key development, the meeting approved the Indore Metro Underground Route from Khajrana to Palasia to Bada Ganpati, a move expected to significantly improve urban mobility and traffic management. Minister Vijayvargiya remarked, “This decision will be historic for Indore’s economic growth and urban development. Together, we will ensure its successful execution.”

Urban Development Priorities

Additional Chief Secretary Shri Sanjay Dubey stressed on expediting tender processes and ensuring time-bound execution of development works. He directed officials to:

  • Develop vacant MOG Line lands with modern and aesthetic designs,
  • Simplify the TDR (Transfer of Development Rights) process, and
  • Mandate inclusion of sewage, water supply, and stormwater lines in all new road projects.

Mayor Shri Pushyamitra Bhargav emphasized strong inter-agency coordination between the Municipal Corporation, IDA, and Smart City agencies for holistic urban growth. He highlighted the need for effective advertisement fee collection to boost municipal revenue and directed the speedy completion of construction works under PM Awas Yojana at Satpura Complex.

The Mayor also proposed the appointment of a Traffic Engineer to design long-term mobility plans and expressed concern over the slow progress of the Marathi Kala Sankul project, urging the department to accelerate the pace.
