Meerut, Jan 14:
Kapsad village in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut district has been transformed into a high-security police cantonment for the sixth consecutive day following a sensational murder and kidnapping case. The security clampdown is so strict that not only outsiders but even media personnel are barred from entering the village. Access is being granted exclusively to local residents—and that too only after verification of their Aadhaar cards.
From the village boundaries to its narrow lanes and footpaths, heavy police deployment is visible everywhere. Barricades have been erected on all main and alternative routes, CCTV cameras have been installed at key locations, and a dedicated control room is monitoring the situation round-the-clock. The entire operation resembles a high-risk security exercise.
When a team from NBT Online reached the outskirts of Kapsad, the scene was startling. Entry was denied not just to journalists but also to residents of neighboring villages. Police personnel clearly stated that they were under strict orders to allow only verified villagers inside.
Accused Sent to Jail, Victim Returned Home
Police have already sent the accused, Paras, to jail. The abducted young woman, Ruby, has been safely handed over to her family under heavy police protection and escorted back to her home. Villagers briefly stepped out of their houses in an attempt to catch a glimpse of her, but strict police vigilance forced everyone back indoors. All access points to the village remain completely sealed, including narrow pathways.
“Show Aadhaar, Then Enter”
Every approach road to Kapsad is guarded with barricades. Police officials insist that proof of local residence is mandatory for entry, with Aadhaar verification being compulsory. Attempts to reach the village via alternative routes, including through Kaili village, were also blocked.
During this time, SP (Rural) Abhijeet Kumar was seen leaving Kapsad. Efforts to speak to him about the situation proved futile as he did not stop his vehicle. The administration’s silence has only deepened curiosity and concern. Police and district officials are refraining from sharing any detailed information about the situation inside the village.
CCTV, Control Room and High Alert
A doctor posted at a health center in nearby Kaili village declined to speak on camera. However, on condition of anonymity, another doctor revealed that even he was stopped by police while passing along the canal road and was allowed to proceed only after identity verification and a security check. Despite Kapsad being just 2.5 kilometers away, access remains restricted even for essential service providers.
According to villagers’ accounts, CCTV cameras have been installed at all entry points, prominent locations within the village, and particularly around the homes of Ruby and Paras. A separate control room has been set up to monitor live footage 24 hours a day. Continuous police patrolling is underway, and senior officers are camping in the area.
Questions and Speculation
The unprecedented security measures have become a topic of discussion in surrounding villages. While many believe the strict action is necessary to maintain peace and prevent any untoward incident, the administration’s continued silence has raised questions. Is there still a threat of violence? Are the circumstances still highly sensitive? Or is there something authorities are deliberately preventing from coming out?
Residents describe Kapsad as a “closed door village”—everything is happening in plain sight, yet for outsiders, every detail remains locked away. In the absence of official clarity, speculation continues, and the tense calm in Kapsad shows no immediate signs of easing.
