Meerut, Uttar Pradesh: A viral incident in Meerut’s busy Bombay Bazaar has left locals stunned. On Sunday evening, a female police officer reportedly confronted a couple in their car, hurling abuses and creating a scene in the middle of traffic. The incident, captured on video, has quickly gone viral on social media.
Roadside Confrontation Caught on Camera
The area was crowded with shoppers and vehicles when an i20 car, with the officer’s cap visible on the dashboard, entered the busy street. The female officer, identified as Ratna Rathi, currently posted in Aligarh, reportedly exited her vehicle and approached the couple’s car, expressing anger over a traffic issue.
According to witnesses, the officer not only raised her voice but also used abusive language. The confrontation escalated when the young man in the car stepped out to question her behavior. Onlookers recorded the entire episode on their mobile phones, which is now circulating widely online.
Public Reaction and Escalation
As the couple protested, the verbal exchange intensified. Throughout the incident, the officer appeared aggressive, attracting a crowd that had gathered within moments. Social media users have since expressed strong opinions regarding police conduct and accountability.
Police Statement
CO Cantt, Naveena Shukla, confirmed that the officer in question is Ratna Rathi. She was reportedly returning from official duty in Muzaffarnagar when the incident occurred. As of now, no formal complaint has been filed. Shukla stated that if the couple files a complaint, an impartial investigation will be conducted to ascertain the facts.
