Meerut: Gym Trainer Assaulted for Sitting with Hindu Woman, Bajrang Dal Protests

Meerut, Uttar Pradesh: During Valentine’s Week in Meerut, a Muslim gym trainer was physically assaulted at a restaurant for being seated with a Hindu woman. The incident triggered a protest by members of the Bajrang Dal.

The Incident

According to reports, Sufiyan, a gym trainer, visited a restaurant in Brahmpuri to celebrate Valentine’s Week with a Hindu female friend. Members associated with the Bajrang Dal confronted him and asked his name. Initially, he introduced himself as “Rahul,” while the woman also identified herself as Hindu. However, when his real name, Sufiyan, was revealed, tensions escalated, leading to a physical attack.

Eyewitnesses said Sufiyan was dragged out of the restaurant and beaten severely. Attempts to intervene were unsuccessful, and the victim sustained serious injuries. He was immediately taken to the hospital by the police who arrived on the scene.

Legal Action and Investigation

Bajrang Dal members filed a complaint alleging that the trainer misrepresented his identity to entrap the woman and engaged in harassment. Based on this, a case has been registered against him under relevant sections, while the assault aspect is also under investigation.

Brahmpuri Circle Officer Soumya Asthana stated that police are questioning both parties and reviewing CCTV footage from the restaurant and surrounding areas. Legal proceedings will continue once the full sequence of events is clarified.
