Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan: In a major anti-narcotics operation, the Maharashtra Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) uncovered a MD drugs manufacturing unit disguised as a poultry farm in the village of Nandka Bas, near the Jhunjhunu district headquarters. The raid led to the seizure of MD drugs, chemicals, and sophisticated machinery worth approximately ₹100 crore in the international market.
According to reports, the factory had started operations just 15 days ago. The first batch of drugs was intercepted by Maharashtra ANC in Sikar, resulting in the arrest of one accused, while the mastermind remains at large.
Accused Identified as Farmer Who Converted Poultry Farm
The arrested suspect, Anil (31), a resident of Nandka Bas and nephew of a former village head, is a 12th-pass farmer. Officials revealed that Anil converted his poultry farm into a drug manufacturing unit, motivated by the prospect of quick money.
Investigations uncovered that Anil’s associate, Bizzu alias Jagga from Netadwas, transported equipment and chemicals for MD production on 26 November. The factory was set up in the room previously used for storing chicken feed, in a remote location chosen to mask the foul odor and activities.
Lured by Money, Suspect Agreed to Operate Factory
During interrogation, Anil admitted that he was offered ₹50,000 as rent to allow the premises to be used. Initially, he refused, but later succumbed to the financial lure and permitted the setup, which eventually escalated into a full-fledged drug factory.
Seizure of Drugs and Equipment
The ANC team recovered approximately 10 kg of MD drugs, along with a large quantity of chemicals and drug-manufacturing machinery. Authorities estimate the international market value at nearly ₹100 crore.
Search for Mastermind Continues
Following Anil’s arrest, efforts are ongoing to locate Bizzu, who escaped upon seeing police at the site. The search and investigation remain active.
Investigation Traces Network from Maharashtra to Rajasthan
The operation is part of a larger investigation launched on 4 October, which has already led to the arrest of six suspects with 501.6 grams of MD drugs. The probe traced the network from Maharashtra through Gujarat, ultimately exposing the clandestine factory in Rajasthan. Police confirmed that crackdowns against all individuals involved in the narcotics trade will continue.
