Alwar: The body of 22-year-old Ajit Chaudhary, an MBBS student from Kafanwara village, Laxmangarh Tehsil, Alwar district, who had been studying in Russia, arrived in India 28 days after his death. The family brought the body to Alwar’s Rajiv Gandhi Hospital for a post-mortem, carried out by a three-member medical board constituted under the directions of Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav. The board included Dr. K.K. Meena, Dr. Mahendra Rawat, and Dr. Vinod Yadav.
Ajit went missing in Russia on October 19, 2025, while studying at Bashkir State Medical University in Ufa. His body was recovered from a river near White River on November 6, and post-mortem in Ufa concluded that the cause of death was drowning. The body was flown to Delhi, arriving at the airport around 5 a.m., before being transported to Alwar.
Family Background and Circumstances
Ajit was a third-year MBBS student. His family had sold 3 bighas of land from their 20-bigha property to finance his medical education abroad. The local river near his college campus was reportedly in flood during October, which may have contributed to the tragic accident.
The family confirmed that Ajit’s younger brother is preparing for competitive exams. The post-mortem in India is being conducted as part of the formal procedures to document the cause of death officially in India.
Similar Incidents Involving Students Abroad
This tragic case follows other recent deaths of Rajasthan MBBS students studying overseas. Earlier this year, Rahul Ghosh from Jaipur, Hemant Kumar from Bharatpur, and Nida Khan from Jhalawar passed away while pursuing medical studies in Kazakhstan and Bangladesh, respectively.
