Massive Road Accident on NH-9 in Amroha: 18 Vehicles Collide Amid Dense Fog, Over 10 Injured

Amroha: A major road accident occurred on Saturday morning on National Highway-9 (Delhi–Moradabad Highway) in Uttar Pradesh’s Amroha district, where dense fog led to a chain collision involving nearly 18 vehicles. More than 10 people were injured in the mishap and were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.

According to officials, the accident took place around 7 a.m. near Didoli Adda in the Didoli police station area. Poor visibility due to thick fog is believed to be the primary cause of the incident. A DCM vehicle heading towards Moradabad first rammed into a truck. Soon after, several vehicles coming from behind, including cars and pickup vans, crashed into the stationary DCM, triggering a massive pile-up on the highway.

A pickup vehicle halted on the Delhi-bound lane was also hit by speeding cars from behind, further worsening the situation. The accident led to chaos at the spot, with injured passengers crying for help and damaged vehicles scattered across the highway.

Local residents quickly reached the scene and helped stop oncoming traffic, preventing an even bigger tragedy. Upon receiving information, police teams and government ambulances rushed to the location and launched rescue and relief operations. All injured persons were shifted to hospitals, where they are reported to be undergoing treatment.

Police officials from Didoli Kotwali stated that the accident was caused by extremely low visibility due to dense fog. They added that the injured are out of danger and that damaged vehicles have been removed from the highway.

Following the accident, traffic on NH-9 was disrupted for some time. However, after clearance operations, police restored smooth movement of vehicles on the route.

Authorities have once again appealed to motorists to exercise caution, especially during foggy conditions, and to avoid speeding to prevent such accidents.
