New Delhi: A devastating fire broke out late Monday night in the Rani Bagh area of Delhi, engulfing warehouses and nearby shanties and claiming the lives of two people, who were burned alive. Firefighters battled the blaze throughout the night, deploying nine fire engines to bring the situation under control. The fire also destroyed goods worth millions of rupees stored in the warehouses.
According to reports, the fire erupted around 1:30 AM in Old Pitampura village, spreading rapidly through densely packed structures. Despite the swift response, two individuals—identified as Viresh and Satish—lost their lives. Their bodies have been sent to Bhagwan Mahavir Hospital for post-mortem examination. The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.
In a separate incident on Tuesday morning, another massive fire broke out in a warehouse in the Narela Industrial Area. Firefighters rushed to the site after receiving an alert around 7 AM, deploying 14 fire engines to contain the blaze. The fire reportedly spread from the basement up to the upper floors, creating panic among local residents. Authorities confirmed that the blaze was largely brought under control, but the cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
These consecutive fire incidents have raised serious concerns about fire safety in Delhi’s industrial and residential clusters, prompting calls for stricter enforcement of safety regulations and better preparedness in high-risk areas.
