Bhopal: A major fraud has rocked the Madhya Pradesh education department, as the Special Task Force (STF) of Gwalior busted a gang of teachers who secured government jobs using fake degrees and diplomas. At least eight teachers have been registered in FIRs, while investigations continue into 26 other suspects.
How the Scam Worked
According to STF sources, an organized group submitted forged D.Ed (Diploma in Education) mark sheets to obtain teaching positions in government schools. The fake documents were neither issued by the respective education boards nor matched any valid serial numbers. Some of the mark sheets were even previously issued in the names of other individuals.
Teachers Implicated
Preliminary investigations revealed that eight teachers from Gwalior had used counterfeit mark sheets to secure employment. They include: Lokendra Singh, Ruby Kushwah, Ravindra Singh Rana, Arjun Singh Chauhan, Gandharv Singh Rawat, Sahab Singh Kushwah, Brijesh Roria, and Mahendra Singh Rawat. Cases have been filed against them, while the documents of 26 other suspects are still under verification.
STF Action
The STF initiated the probe following intelligence reports of fake teacher appointments across multiple districts. A special team from the Gwalior unit conducted a confidential investigation, uncovering the fraudulent activity.
Impact on Education Department
The crackdown has caused shockwaves within the Madhya Pradesh education department, raising questions about recruitment procedures and the need for stricter verification of credentials. DGP Kailash Makwana had earlier directed strict action against organized crimes related to the education sector.
This exposure underscores the critical need for transparency in government hiring and highlights the challenges in preventing fraudulent entries into essential public services.
