A dramatic encounter unfolded at a Hanuman temple in Lonia village, Seoni, when worshippers discovered a large cobra coiled near the idol of Lord Hanuman, creating panic among devotees. The incident, captured on video, quickly went viral on social media.
Villagers immediately contacted snake expert Praveen Tiwari, known locally as a “Snake Friend,” who arrived at the scene promptly. Demonstrating skill and experience, Tiwari carefully rescued the 4-foot-long cobra, which had been hissing aggressively throughout the operation.
The cobra was safely relocated to a forested area, ensuring both public safety and the animal’s well-being. Local residents expressed relief after the potentially dangerous situation was averted without any harm to the worshippers or the snake.
Temple authorities noted that the cobra’s proximity to the Hanuman idol was particularly concerning, as numerous devotees regularly visit the temple for prayers. Quick action by the villagers and the snake rescuer prevented a potential accident.
The rescue operation highlights the importance of vigilance in public spaces and the invaluable role of trained wildlife handlers in managing human-animal conflicts. Following the incident, devotees returned to the temple to continue their worship, and the viral video of the rescue is now drawing attention from wildlife enthusiasts across the region.
