Masked Youth Threatens Girl with Knife in Bijnor; Police Arrest Perpetrator Amid Viral Video

Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh: A shocking video from a clothing store in Najibabad, Bijnor, has gone viral on social media, showing a masked youth threatening a young woman by holding a knife to her throat. The incident sent waves of panic through the busy market as bystanders captured the alarming moment on their phones.

The Incident
According to local sources, on Wednesday evening, three young women were returning home from shopping at a winter collection sale along Railway Station Road when the masked youth suddenly approached from behind. He pressed a knife to one of the girl’s throats, causing the group to panic and scream. The commotion drew a crowd, and police patrolling the area quickly intervened to apprehend the suspect on the spot.

Accused Identified
The accused has been identified as Ajit Bal Govind, a resident of Surajpur Mohammadpur Khala, Barabanki district. Police have taken him into custody for questioning. The Sub-Divisional Officer, Nitesh Pratap Singh, confirmed that the girls were sent for medical examination and are reported to be in stable condition.

Intent Behind the Crime
During interrogation, Ajit revealed a disturbing motive: he had harbored a desire to go to jail for the past 15 days and carried out the act to fulfill this reckless urge. Ajit stated that he traveled from Noida to Muradabad by train, in an intoxicated state, before reaching Najibabad. Near the railway station, he purchased the knife used in the attack.

Police Response
Authorities confirmed that Ajit was under the influence of drugs at the time of the incident and works at a bakery in Noida. He reportedly had no prior connection to Najibabad. Police are investigating whether he has any criminal record. Residents have been urged to remain calm, and officials have promised strict action against the accused.

This incident underscores growing concerns about public safety and the dangers posed by impulsive and intoxicated individuals in crowded areas.
