Maoists Announce “Fight to the Last Breath” During PLGA Week; December 2–8 Marked for Revolutionary Activities

Nagpur: The Maoist strongholds stretching from Gadchiroli to Chhattisgarh are witnessing renewed activity. While the government claims that Maoist influence will be eradicated by March 2026, a recent letter from the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) has sent ripples across security agencies.

Earlier, the banned CPI (Maoist) reportedly requested a three-month pause in anti-Naxal operations to allow cadres to surrender and avail government rehabilitation schemes. However, the Central Military Commission (CMC) has now issued a sharply contrasting directive, calling on Maoist cadres to observe PLGA Week from December 2 to 8 with revolutionary zeal, pledging to fight “until the last breath.”

The announcement coincides with the 25th anniversary of the PLGA and is being perceived as a symbolic challenge to the government. The letter highlights that this year has been among the bloodiest for the organization, yet it emphasizes resilience and patience among cadres.

Casualties and Current Threat:
The Maoists admitted that 320 cadres were killed in the past year, including 8 Central Committee members and 15 state-level leaders, with General Secretary Basavaraj among them. Dandakaranya alone saw 243 Maoist fatalities.

Despite government claims that Maoist insurgency will end by March 2026, security forces remain on high alert. Senior police officials confirmed that whether cadres surrender or not, anyone found with weapons will be confronted with full force in conflict zones.

Internal Conflicts:
The CMC condemned the Bhupati-Satish faction, accusing it of betrayal after surrendering with over 227 firearms. Leadership urged cadres that armed struggle remains the only path to victory and vowed that operations will continue even after March 2026.

PLGA Week Activities:
The directive calls for small meetings, poster campaigns, recruitment drives, and strict secrecy. Cadres are instructed to commemorate the anniversary as part of their duty to defend the party, PLGA, and revolutionary movement. The announcement follows large-scale government-backed surrender drives and highlights attempts by Maoists to boost morale amid dwindling strongholds.

Security Agencies on Alert:
Ahead of PLGA Week, security agencies are on heightened alert, fearing the call may reinvigorate cadres and attempt to reassert the organization’s relevance. For over 25 years, Maoists have commemorated PLGA Week in memory of fallen comrades, showcasing their acts to inspire new recruits. The latest directive signals a renewed commitment to resist “until the last breath.”
