Maoist Plot Foiled in Bijapur: Two 10-Kg IEDs Recovered on Somanpalli–Bandepara Road

Raipur: Security forces in Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh, successfully thwarted a Maoist attack during anti-Naxal operations by detecting and neutralizing improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted on a key road used by security personnel and locals.

In the first operation, the Maired police station team, along with the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS), recovered two command IEDs, each weighing 10 kilograms, placed sequentially on the Somanpalli–Bandepara dirt track. The devices were intended to target security convoys and disrupt local movement. Acting with utmost caution, the police and BDS safely removed and subsequently destroyed the explosives on-site, ensuring no harm to civilians or personnel.

In a separate operation, a joint team of Keripu 214 Battalion and district forces conducted a search and demining exercise in the Kondapadgu forest area under the Bhopalpatnam jurisdiction. During this mission, two pressure IEDs, each weighing 2 kilograms, were recovered and promptly neutralized, averting any potential incident.

Maoist Supplies Seized
During the search, security forces also discovered two white drums buried underground in Kondapadgu. These drums contained rations stockpiled by Maoists for their cadres, striking a significant blow to their logistical network in the region.

Continuous Surveillance and Vigilance
Authorities emphasized that such recoveries demonstrate the effectiveness of ongoing anti-Maoist operations. Security forces remain fully committed to weakening the Maoist network, ensuring the safety of local residents, and maintaining law and order in sensitive areas of Bijapur.

By neutralizing explosives and seizing Maoist resources, the operations highlight the strong resolve of security personnel to prevent unrest and monitor Maoist activity closely. Officials reiterated that any attempts to disturb peace in the district will be met with decisive action.
