Mandsaur Man Creates Fake Instagram ID to Sabotage Woman’s Marriages; Four Proposals Broken

Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh: In a shocking incident highlighting the dark side of social media, a man in Mandsaur has been accused of harassing a young woman to the extent that four of her marriage proposals were ruined. The accused allegedly created a fake Instagram account in the woman’s name and used it to spread objectionable messages to prospective in-laws, damaging her reputation.

The victim, referred to as Pinky for privacy, had been meeting potential suitors with her family. However, every time a proposal seemed promising, the fake Instagram account would become active. Through this account, the accused, identified as Sandeep Patidar, would reach the families of the prospective grooms and spread false information, ultimately causing the marriages to fall through. This repeated harassment left the woman emotionally distressed and in depression.

Investigation and Arrest

After the victim courageously filed a complaint, the local police faced the challenge of identifying the anonymous perpetrator. Using advanced cyber forensic techniques, the Daloda police traced the account activity to Sandeep Patidar, a resident of Daloda Rail, who had been monitoring the woman for an extended period. Patidar was arrested, and police seized the mobile phone he used to operate the fake Instagram account.

Legal Action

The police have registered a case under Sections 352, 396(B) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 66(D) of the Information Technology Act. Investigations revealed that the accused’s sole intent was to harass the woman and tarnish her social image.

Cyber Safety Advisory

Cybersecurity experts warn that creating fake social media profiles to target someone has become increasingly common. Victims are advised to immediately capture screenshots of harassment and report the matter to authorities. Privacy settings on social media platforms should be strengthened to prevent misuse of personal information.

This operation was conducted under the guidance of SP Vinod Kumar Meena, led by Daloda Police Station In-Charge Shubham Vyas and his team. Police are continuing to question the accused to determine whether he has targeted others in a similar manner.
