Major Setback for Mukhtar Ansari’s Wife: Court Rejects Afsha Ansari’s Plea, Upholds Seizure of ₹9.44 Crore Property

Ghazipur: In a significant development, the MP-MLA Court in Ghazipur has dismissed the petition filed by Afsha Ansari, wife of deceased gangster-politician Mukhtar Ansari, seeking the release of her seized property worth ₹9.44 crore. The property had been attached by the district administration under the Gangsters Act.

Court Rejects Challenge to DM’s Attachment Order

Afsha, through her counsel, had challenged the District Magistrate’s order issued under Section 14(1) of the UP Gangsters and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act, which allowed the authorities to confiscate the property. The court, after examining all records and evidence, ruled that the DM’s order was entirely legal and valid.

According to the administration, investigations revealed that Mukhtar Ansari had purchased the property in Afsha’s name using illegally earned money. On this basis, the district administration had ordered the attachment of the assets worth ₹9.44 crore.

Afsha Still Absconding

Officials confirmed that Afsha Ansari remains absconding, and multiple non-bailable warrants have already been issued against her in various cases.

Government counsel Neeraj Srivastava stated that the court found the attachment fully compliant with the provisions of the Gangsters Act and therefore dismissed the petition in its entirety.

Next Move: Will Afsha Appeal?

With the court now stamping approval on the administration’s confiscation action, it remains to be seen whether Afsha will approach a higher court to challenge the ruling.

Mukhtar Ansari, identified by police records as the leader of the IS-191 gang, died earlier while lodged in Banda jail.
