Lucknow: A massive disruption in the global Microsoft Windows system on Wednesday morning caused check-in failures at several major airports across India — including Delhi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Varanasi. The breakdown of airport IT systems forced staff to switch to manual check-in, resulting in widespread delays and cancellations. Lucknow Airport faced a significant impact, with seven flights cancelled and several others delayed by up to one hour and fifteen minutes.

What Caused the Disruption?
Airport sources confirmed that a global Microsoft Windows outage led to the crash of check-in and boarding systems across multiple airports. As the systems failed, airports had to resort to manual processing — slowing down operations drastically and creating long queues.
Impact on Passengers
Hundreds of passengers were left stranded as flights were either grounded or delayed. With key gateways like Delhi and Bengaluru affected, the ripple effect was felt across the country, including Lucknow.
Authorities have assured that system restoration efforts are underway and normal operations are expected to resume soon.
