Major Fraud in PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi Detected in Ayodhya: Payments Made to Deceased Farmers

Ayodhya:
A large-scale fraud has been uncovered in the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme in Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya district, with funds being disbursed to accounts of deceased farmers. Authorities have confirmed that several beneficiaries have been illegally receiving payments despite being ineligible.

According to Dr. P.K. Kanaujia, Deputy Director of Agriculture, 37,638 registered farmers in the district were found to be either deceased or receiving funds in violation of scheme rules. “Out of a total of 4,41,000 farmers in the district, 4,26,707 have been verified as registered under the scheme,” Dr. Kanaujia stated. “Among them, over 37,000 were found to be unlawfully receiving installments. Immediate action has been taken to suspend further payments, and recovery proceedings for the disbursed amount will be initiated.”

Additional Cases of Fraud Identified

The ongoing screening has also revealed cases of dual claims, where both husband and wife were receiving payments under the scheme. Around 18,000 such cases are currently under investigation. Other fraudulent cases include farmers who purchased land, constructed houses on it, yet continued to receive benefits under the scheme for the same land.

So far, 21 installments of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi have been disbursed. Officials have assured that all illegal beneficiaries will face action, and future installments to such accounts have been blocked.

Steps to Ensure Legitimate Beneficiaries Receive Benefits

Dr. Kanaujia highlighted ongoing awareness campaigns to ensure that only eligible farmers receive benefits under government schemes. Registered farmers are also entitled to subsidies and grants for solar pumps, agricultural machinery, and fertilizers. Registration can be completed at local CSC (Common Service Centres).

Officials stressed that such verification drives are essential to safeguard public funds and ensure that the scheme’s benefits reach genuine farmers.
