Mandla, Madhya Pradesh: In a significant anti-drug operation, Mandla police seized marijuana worth over ₹2 crore and arrested one accused in connection with the case. The consignment, weighing 40.038 kg, was hidden in bushes near a culvert in the Anjania area of the district.
According to Anjania police station in-charge, Sub-Inspector Praveen Sharma, the operation was based on actionable intelligence received from the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of Rajasthan Police. “The Rajasthan Police had information about a truck transporting illegal marijuana. The truck, coming from Jhalawar district in Rajasthan, was stopped and searched, but nothing was initially found. Upon further questioning, the driver revealed the location where the consignment was hidden,” he said.
The driver, Rajendra, a resident of Baran district, Rajasthan, admitted that he was transporting marijuana from Odisha to Rajasthan. Fearing police checks on the way, he decided to hide the consignment in Mandla district. Acting on this tip-off, the Anjania police team recovered the bags of marijuana from the specified location near Maturu Dhaba.
The total seized quantity weighs 40.038 kg, valued at over ₹2 crore in the international market. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act, and multiple teams from Anjania police have been dispatched to Rajasthan to apprehend other suspects involved.
