Major Accident on Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Kota: Two Drivers Killed, Eight Passengers Injured

KOTA: In a tragic incident on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway early Friday morning, a sleeper coach bus traveling from Delhi to Indore collided with a vehicle ahead, resulting in the deaths of both drivers and injuries to eight passengers. At the time of the accident, the bus was carrying 42 passengers.

Two Drivers Lose Lives in the Crash
The accident occurred near Arankheda village, close to Paralia, in the Kathoon police jurisdiction of Kota district around 4:30 AM. According to Station House Officer Sandeep Sharma, the bus crashed into a vehicle in front of it. Both drivers, identified as 40-year-old Giriraj Raibari and Shyam Sundar Sen, were killed in the collision.

Passengers Injured, Prompt Rescue Efforts
Eight passengers sustained injuries in the crash and were immediately admitted to Kota’s New Medical College Hospital for treatment. One of the drivers’ bodies was trapped inside the wreckage, which took police considerable effort to retrieve.

Panic Among Sleeping Passengers
Eyewitnesses reported chaos inside the bus as it collided at a time when most passengers were asleep. Following the accident, expressway patrolling and emergency teams arrived promptly, assisting the police in evacuating the injured and ensuring the remaining passengers were safely transported to their destinations. Families of the injured were informed, and further investigation into the cause of the crash is underway.
