Maihar Collector Shocks Civil Hospital: Fines and Notices Issued Over Dirty Premises and Empty NRC Beds

Maihar: In a surprise inspection on Friday, Maihar District Collector Rani Batad visited the Amarpatan Civil Hospital and uncovered severe mismanagement and poor sanitation in a facility critical for patient care. The Collector described the cleanliness as “extremely unsatisfactory” and took immediate action, creating a stir within the hospital administration while reassuring patients.

Fine Imposed on Outsourced Cleaning Agency
Collector Batad ordered a fine of ₹10,000 on the outsourced cleaning agency responsible for maintaining hospital hygiene due to gross negligence. Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Dr. L.K. Tiwari confirmed that the agency, M/s Sky Bull Security Service (OPC) Pvt. Ltd., based in Indore, had failed to fulfill contractual obligations. The agency has been instructed to deposit the fine into the Amarpatan Patient Welfare Committee account within 24 hours and submit proof of payment.

Empty NRC Beds Trigger Show-Cause Notices
During the inspection, the Collector also checked the Nutritional Rehabilitation Center (NRC) for malnourished children and was alarmed to find all beds empty. With malnutrition being a critical issue in rural areas, the inaction prompted the Collector to issue show-cause notices to the Project Officer, Child Development Project, Amarpatan, demanding an explanation for the negligence.

Hospital Management Held Accountable
Collector Batad held the hospital management accountable as well, citing disorganized operations and unsanitary conditions across wards and premises. Show-cause notices were issued to BMO Dr. Satnami and the hospital in-charge Dr. Satnami, emphasizing that lapses in patient care and facility management would not be tolerated. The surprise inspection sent a strong signal to hospital authorities about strict compliance and accountability.
