Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh: In a shocking act of familial vengeance, a nephew allegedly shot dead his uncle in Mahoba district, rekindling a decades-old grudge that ended in tragedy.
According to police reports, the incident occurred on Sunday evening in Gugora village under the Kabarai police station area. Monu Singh, the victim’s nephew, is accused of shooting his uncle, Gulab Singh Parihar (60), citing a long-standing dispute. Following the shooting, Monu Singh fled the scene, creating panic in the village. Authorities have deployed four police teams to track down the suspect.
Sequence of Events
Gulab Singh Parihar, who lived with his family near the district headquarters, had gone to Gugora village to oversee irrigation of his fields. Monu Singh, reportedly lying in wait, suddenly opened fire. One bullet struck Gulab Singh in the head, while another hit his chest, leaving him critically injured. He was rushed to the district hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
Long-Standing Grudge
The victim’s son, Shivam Singh, stated that Monu Singh held his uncle responsible for his father’s death decades ago and had been seeking revenge for nearly 30 years. Previously, he had also attempted a lethal attack on his uncle but had failed. Deputy Superintendent of Police Vandana Singh confirmed that the murder was motivated by this old animosity.
Suspicion on Victim’s Brother
Family members allege that the killing was premeditated, pointing fingers at Veerendra Singh, the victim’s brother, for summoning Gulab Singh to the village. The deceased’s daughter, Jyoti Singh Parihar, and son, Shivam, are grief-stricken and have demanded a fair and thorough police investigation with strict action.
Police Action
Upon receiving the information, police and forensic teams reached the scene to collect evidence. Deputy SP Vandana Singh said four teams from Kabarai, Panwari, Charkhari, and Khanna police stations have been deployed to apprehend Monu Singh, who is known to have a criminal record.
This incident has once again highlighted the dangers of long-standing family feuds, underscoring the need for timely conflict resolution before disputes escalate into fatal violence.
