Mahoba Dowry Scandal: Husband Secretly Marries Second Woman While First Wife Still Married

Mahoba, February 12, 2026: A shocking dowry-related case has surfaced in Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh, where a husband allegedly orchestrated a secret second marriage while his first wife was still living, after demands for a plot and car as additional dowry were not met. Police have registered a case against 11 individuals, including the husband, based on the first wife’s complaint.

According to the complaint, Nagma Khatoon, a resident of Kanpur Dehat, was married to Tajuddin of Jaitpur town under Muslim customs on April 9, 2018. Her parents provided a dowry of ₹4.5 lakh in cash, along with gold, silver, and other gifts. However, the husband and his family, including father-in-law Kutubuddin, mother-in-law Quraisha, sister-in-law Shagufta, and others, began pressuring her for additional dowry, demanding a plot from her mother and a car from her father.

Unable to meet these demands, Nagma reportedly faced both physical and mental harassment. Despite reporting the abuse to the police, she was persuaded to remain calm and endured the mistreatment in silence.

The complaint states that Tajuddin, who works for the Railways, secretly arranged a second marriage with Kajal, a resident of Lavkushnagar in Chhatarpur district, without divorcing Nagma. The first wife learned of the second marriage through relatives and reported the matter to the Kul Pahad police station.

Kul Pahad Station In-Charge Vinod Kumar Singh confirmed that a case has been registered against 11 accused, including Tajuddin, his in-laws, and others, and an investigation is underway. Further legal action will follow based on the findings.
